We are a community-created and community-centered craft brewery in a vintage sewing factory in Dyersville, Iowa!

Our building was built in 1906 to be a gasoline engine factory. It was a sewing factory from 1910 – 2017! Everything in our taproom (besides the chairs and honed granite bar top) was found in the building when we bought it.

In 1916 – four years before women got the right to vote in the US – all 60+ seamstresses (ages 16-20), walked out over a 7 1/2 cent pay discrepancy. The son of one of the owners, Richard Bissell, wrote a book about the strike called “7 1/2 Cents”. This book was a national best seller in 1923, and was turned into the Tony-award winning musical and movie, “The Pajama Game”! We show the movie – starring Doris Day and choreographed by Bob Fosse – on repeat in our tap room as an homage to the history of strong women that have worked in our sewing factory!
